today's useful tip for a better night's
sleep is how to properly care for your
CPAP and it's related supplies taking
just a few moments out of your morning
each day to properly clean and care for
your equipment will make it last much
longer and operate at its peak
efficiency every morning when you wake
up empty your humidifier simply open the
chamber spill out the water as best you
can rinse it thoroughly with fresh
distilled water and let it air dry
overnight at least once a week
completely fill up to the top with one
part white vinegar and two parts
distilled water let it soak completely
for at least twenty to thirty minutes
and then thoroughly rinse and let it air
dry this only needs to be done once a
week commercially available cleansers
are also available but this is very
inexpensive in most patients have this
in their own home every morning after
the hosel
can be wiped down with alcohol or
disinfectant wipe the mask liner should
be removed thoroughly the plastic shell
again can be wiped down with a
disinfectant wipe or an alcohol pad the
headgear can be thrown into a dishwasher
or a washing machine as often as you
feel it is necessary to do so the liner
however should never be cleaned with
harsh chemicals or alcohol commercially
available wipes specifically designed
without alcohol or solvent or the use of
a simple dishwashing solution soft soapy
soft liner every day taking off your
facial oils and any gray
that may have accumulated overnight
thoroughly rinse this with water and let
it air dry this will lengthen the life
of the liner considerably if you don't
do this on a daily basis the life of
this liner will be shortened by 30 to 50
percent lastly at least once per week
take your tubing fully submerge it in a
one part white vinegar two part
distilled water solution in a tub
completely submerging the tubing let it
soak for 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse
it thoroughly with water and let an air
dry until the following night following
these simple steps will assure that your
CPAP equipment operates at its full
capacity for a longer period of time
